The Social Workshop Program was born in the municipality of Cascais where the Social Network, as a local governance structure, assumes a role centered on shared responsibility in pursuing the social development of the territory and social cohesion.
In this sense, this Program is essentially characterized by network work and in partnership with several local institutions and the Escola Superior de Saúde do Alcoitão, as a consulting partner, assumes its role of social responsibility in the municipal territory, through joint work with the municipality and with many other local organizations, planning and developing services to the community.
The Social Workshop Program's main objective is to carry out small repairs and adaptations in the homes of residents aged 65 or over and/or in a situation of temporary or permanent dependence, with an income equal to or less than the value of the Social Pension.
It is truly an example of how investment in better housing qualifications for elderly people and people with disabilities prevents domestic accidents, situations of dependency and early institutionalization, significantly improving the quality of life of this population.
