Description

The Ministerial Decision provides guidance and best practices for making it easier to adapt both existing buildings and their surroundings to comply with the provisions of Article 26 (par.4) and 27 of the Greek Law 4067/2012, known as the "New Building Regulation".

Specifically, the Ministerial Decision outlines the Technical Instructions for modifying the architectural configuration of the buildings and their surrounding areas to be accessible to persons with disabilities and reduced mobility. Τhe buildings that fall under the scope of the Ministerial Decision are those who have been built before the entry into force of the Law 4067/2012.

The Ministerial Decision includes a specific methodology, which has been adopted by an interministerial committee and published in 2009.  Based on this methodology, four thematic fields are examined in the following order: I. Approach-Entrance, II. Horizontal circulation III. Vertical circulation IV. Services – equipment.  Following the above, the selection of adaptations for the building and its surroundings aims to ensure accessibility in accordance with the principles of Design for All.
