AccessibleEU Cyprus - Inter-sectorial approaches to accessibility: Working together to remove barriers (24-NW-CY-01)

The Nicosia Municipal Arts Center, Associated with the Pierides Foundation [NiMAC], is teaming up with AccessibleEU, the European University Cyprus and the CYENS Centre of Excellence for the 2024 International Museum Day. 

Together, they are hosting a networking event titled "Inter-sectorial approaches to accessibility: Working together to remove barriers." This event will bring together museum and cultural professionals, policy makers, educators, technology experts, and built environment professionals to delve into topics such as accessible infrastructures, digital content, and cultural accessibility. Additionally, there will be an exhibition showcasing interactive examples of accessibility that will be open to the public on the day of the event.

Objectives:

  • Facilitate cross-sector networking and collaboration among professionals from diverse sectors including museums, cultural institutions, policy makers, educators, technology experts, and built environment professionals to collectively address accessibility challenges.
  • Raise awareness and understanding of the importance of accessibility in various domains, including museums, cultural institutions, digital content, and the built environment, among both professionals and the public.
  • Share best practices, innovations, and successful case studies related to accessibility across sectors, inspiring participants to implement similar initiatives in their own organizations.
  • Drive policy and systemic change that prioritize accessibility and remove barriers to participation for individuals with disabilities in cultural, educational, and public spaces.
  • Promote public engagement by showcasing interactive examples of accessibility solutions and innovations through an exhibition open to the public.
  • Target audience: Policy makers and public sector officers, web developers and digital content creators, designers, educators, students in the field of rehabilitation and disabilities, ICT students, higher education instructors, museum and cultural professionals, technology experts, and built environment professionals.
