The European Accessibility Act, approved in 2019, will come into effect on 28 June 2025, and will mark a significant shift in the EU market.

The Act mandates that a range of products and services such as consumer electronics (TVs, smartphones, computers, gaming consoles, etc.), ticketing and vending machines, websites and mobile acts, among others, comply with accessibility requirements for persons with disabilities.

AccessibleEU has prepared a series of guidelines written and reviewed by accessibility experts that provide easy to understand information about the EAA and other European accessibility related legislation. Some of these guidelines are the following:

Accessibility Legislation at European Level: This guide provides information on existing European Union legislation on accessibility. It provides basic knowledge about European Union accessibility legislation as well as the obligations for stakeholders.

Accessibility Standards at European Level: This document offers information about European standards that support the European Accessibility Act (EAA).

Getting to know the European legislation on accessibility: This is a concise and easy-to-use document aiming at providing knowledge about the most relevant European Union legislation and standards on accessibility. Readers will get a better understanding of their purpose, scope, main and requirements.
