Evolution of the European Disability Card in Slovenia

EU Disability Card supports social inclusion of persons with disabilities in the EU. It facilitate a more equal treatment and specific benefits for persons with disabilities when it comes to personal identification as a person with disability and accessibility of transport, tourism, culture, sport and leisure in home country and at traveling to other EU member states. In 2023 eight EU member states joined the project and Croatia is preparing a project and will join these eight member states.

EU Disability Card is a unified personal identification for persons with disabilites all over the EU. With the Card persons with disabilities can have commercial benefits in diverse areas of life. The Card has been available in Slovenia since July 2017.  

Slovenia is currently preparing the third EU disability card project and continues the planned path, which is written in the Strategy for the rights of persons with disabilities 2021-2030. Slovenia want to achieve the highest possible recognition of the card, both among users and benefit providers.
