The Municipality of Kifissia, located in Attica Region, has taken full advantage of the possibilities offered by technology by installing “smart” sensors to prevent illegal parking of vehicles on pedestrian crossings and ramps for persons with disabilities.

As of mid-April 2024, 56 'smart' sensors have been installed in different locations in the municipality. Each sensor is displayed on the electronic map of Kifissia’s Municipal Police Violation Management System. The monitoring platform collects data on the status of the sensors, indicating whether a vehicle is parked on a pedestrian crossing or a ramp by a vehicle, which may prevent the smooth passage of persons with disabilities. When a violation is detected, Kifissia’s Municipal Police  Violation Management System is immediately notified. The municipal police officers are then alerted through portal devices and can intervene immediately.
