Rádio e Televisão de Portugal (RTP) provides more content to the deaf community through the dedicated Portuguese Sign Language page on their website. The public broadcast company has implemented, over the years, sign language interpretation on a variety of shows, from news to entertainment, complying with the national goals from ERC, the regulator for the sector. Over 14000 hours of content are available with Portuguese Sign Language interpretation.
To improve the variety of ways people can access content, RTP made available a page on their website for those who prefer to watch sign language interpretation as a main focus on screen, instead of the regular broadcasting where the interpreters are on the lower left or right of the screen, as a secondary image. This solution is available from Monday to Friday on a set of live shows broadcasted in multiple channels from RTP network. This is one of multiple accessibility solutions RTP has developed over the years, including multi channel audio description over digital TV for certain shows.
