AccessibleEU is one of the flagship initiatives proposed by the European Commission Strategy for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2021-2030. It is a resource Centre on accessibility working on areas such as built environment, transport, information and communication technologies to ensure the participation of persons with disabilities in all areas of life on equal basis with others.

The revised EU regulation on air passenger rights, provisionally agreed by EU institutions on 15 June, introduces major improvements for passengers with disabilities, significantly strengthening existing protections.

Accessibility will take centre stage on 29 June at the upcoming UIA World Congress of Architects 2026 in Barcelona, as AccessibleEU hosts the event “Accessibility’s Achievements and Challenges in Contemporary Architecture and Urban Planning.

The document, published in February as CEN-CLC-ETSI/TR 101551:2026, provides guidance to help contracting authorities include accessibility requirements in ICT procurement, and ensure that products and services are accessible.
