AccessibleEU is one of the flagship initiatives proposed by the European Commission Strategy for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2021-2030. It is a resource Centre on accessibility working on areas such as built environment, transport, information and communication technologies to ensure the participation of persons with disabilities in all areas of life on equal basis with others.

The EU Council approved the final version of the text of the Directive on the European Disability Card and European Parking Card, clearing the last bureaucratic hurdles.
The selected cities Borås (Sweden), Cartagena (Spain), Nuremberg (Germany), and Vienna (Austria) have demonstrated best practice and highlighted their commitment to ensure accessibility to urban life for persons with disabilities.
The 2024 edition of the European Day of Persons with Disabilities conference is taking place in Brussels on 28-29 November 2024 and hosted by the European Commission in partnership with the European Disability Forum.
