AccessibleEU is one of the flagship initiatives proposed by the European Commission Strategy for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2021-2030. It is a resource Centre on accessibility working on areas such as built environment, transport, information and communication technologies to ensure the participation of persons with disabilities in all areas of life on equal basis with others.

This system, still in test phase, includes use of colour to identify spaces, pictograms that comply with international regulations, Easy-to-read, QR codes and consistent signage. It has been validated by persons with intellectual disabilities who are cognitive accessibility experts.
The Proceedings of the Seventh International Conference on Universal Design (UD2024) have been turned into a book, which is available for download in PDF format. The book includes a total of 60 scientific papers on universal design in several fields.
Vienna won the 2025 Access City Award for its outstanding efforts to making the city accessible for persons with disabilities. Nuremberg (Germany) and Cartagena (Spain) received the second and third prize respectively.
